A lasting finish starts with a properly prepared surface.
Our new automated shot blasting system removes rust and mill scale from steel parts, preparing them for powder coating or liquid coating.
At Powder Coatings of Utah, we continue to invest in equipment that strengthens our capabilities and helps us serve manufacturers and fabricators across Utah and the Intermountain West. This addition supports controlled, consistent surface preparation as part of our complete metal finishing process.
How Automated Shot Blasting Works
Shot blasting uses steel shot propelled against a metal surface to remove rust, mill scale, and other surface debris. This mechanical cleaning process prepares steel parts for the next stage of finishing.
Our automated system moves parts through an enclosed blast chamber on a roller conveyor. Inside, blast wheels direct steel shot onto exposed surfaces, while adjustable settings help control the cleaning process for different project requirements.
The result is a clean, prepared surface ready for the appropriate next steps before powder coating or liquid coating.

Better Preparation.
A Stronger Foundation for Your Finish.
The performance of a coating starts with the surface beneath it. Our investment in automated shot blasting strengthens our ability to prepare steel parts with care and consistency—supporting the quality manufacturers and fabricators expect from us.
Proper Coating Adhesion
Removing rust and mill scale helps create a sound surface for the next finishing steps. Proper preparation supports coating adhesion and long-term protective performance.
Consistent Surface Preparation
Controlled conveyor movement and adjustable blast settings support repeatable processing. We assess your parts and finishing requirements to determine the appropriate preparation for your project.
Capabilities That Support Your Business
We continue to invest in equipment that helps us meet our customers’ needs. With surface preparation, powder coating, and liquid coating available through one team, we help coordinate your project from preparation to final finish.
